Zenon Fedorowycz

With more than 30 years’ experience as a practicing lawyer specializing in civil litigation, Zenon brings his comprehensive knowledge and skill to address your mediation needs. Zenon has appeared before all levels of the Courts of Ontario.

Zenon obtained his LL.B. from the University of Windsor, and honed his skills while senior in-house counsel for several major companies. These include The Hartford, Royal & Sun Alliance Insurance Company of Canada, and the Ontario School Boards’ Insurance Exchange (OSBIE). While at each of The Hartford and OSBIE, Zenon restructured and also headed their respective legal departments. Subsequently, Zenon held the position of senior counsel for 15 years, transitioning to mediator, at Browns & Burnes, a downtown Toronto defence firm.

In 2017, Zenon completed the ADR Workshop presented through the Stitt Feld Handy Group in association with the University of Windsor Faculty of Law. In 2023, he also completed the Construction and Adjudication CanDACC Orientation Program.

Zenon is passionate about the benefits of the mediation process as a means to achieve desirable outcomes while avoiding the cost and delay of protracted litigation.

By guiding a process of thorough identification and balanced appraisal of the issues, Zenon’s goal is to facilitate an outcome which is mutually satisfactory to both parties. Zenon’s approach is designed to make the mediation process as positive as possible, by assisting both sides in recognizing and focusing on the key issues, and realistically assessing their respective positions to encourage dialogue toward a fair resolution.

Zenon is a member of the Law Society of Ontario, the Canadian Bar Association, and the ADR Institute of Ontario. While able to mediate a wide variety of litigation matters, Zenon’s experience has emphasized personal injury, motor vehicle accident, occupiers' liability, product liability, construction, condominium, municipal, environmental, disability, transportation, property damage and subrogation claims.

In his spare time, Zenon enjoys spending time with his family, kayaking at the cottage, and travel. He has also been known to savour the Canadian winter wilderness from a dogsledder’s perspective.

Married to the same (moderately) patient partner for almost 30 years, and having helped raise two children into young adulthood, Zenon has learned a thing or two about the merits of negotiation, patience, and a calm, logical (and sometimes humorous) approach. He can be counted on to bring this practical experience to bear when mediating for you.
